Vintage Summer Vignette in Lantern

Hello ~ how can anyone’s home be without a lantern or ten lanterns!!! While they are beautiful by themselves and with a candle, sometimes you just need to change things up! A warm candle glow is nice but when it’s 90 degrees out don’t you just want to curl up with a good book, lay on the hammock and listen to the birds chirp!

So, I have been inspired this week by our local library who was giving away free books. A lot of them were old and weathered - exactly what I needed!

We have so many lanterns here at The Shoppes of Altavista that it was hard to choose one but alas I chose this weathered wood with a metal roof - reminds me of the beach!

The first thing to go in was the book!

I Love the yellowed pages against the green Cover! Now it’s time to add some accents - since I’m thinking of chirping birds, let’s add them!

Add a pretty bird and her nest with some eggs!  Cute, but they are just there.... so let’s add something to the floor to “ground” them!

So I found this piece of burlap which is absolutely perfect! But it needs some color so I found some foliage!

Isn't this adorable!

So some folks like it just as it is but I think it just needs a little “something” to soften the roof so I added a burlap bow!

And here is the finished project!!! Hope you have enjoyed this and are inspired to look at your lantern as not just a candle holder!!!
